Hotel Tollenique
History
About 30 years ago, Henk and Joke van Tol decided to leave the Westland for Terneuze, to start a snack bar in the Korte Kerkstraat. Soon, the snack bar expanded into a petit restaurant,  then into a bar-bistro and eventually it expanded into the famous bistro Tollenique. The combination of hospitality and delicious food, made Tollenique famous in Terneuzen and beyond. Henk made sure that everything in the bistro ran smoothly, but was always in for a party as well. Who doesn’t remember the biggest icicle in the world, that half Terneuzen enjoyed at the time? Or the dive container with trout during the Jazz festival, the rope hanging at the fair. And of course the horse buffet for all the horses of Sinterklaas.
The Dream
The dream of Henk and Joke to run a hotel, became reality. The old hotel Post, in the Nieuwstraat, suffered a devastating fire 8 years earlier. However, it was fully restored by Henk and Joke, which led to hotel Tollenique. After the remodeling, the hotel was opened by Henk, together with the mayor  of Terneuzen at that time Mr. Barbe. Since then, many people have found their way to the restaurant, and many individuals and companies have stayed at hotel Tollenique.
t
National and international

And what would you think about the group Clouseau and Jean-Claude van Damme! All of them found their way to Tollenique, and they were welcomed with the same hospitality as any other hotel guest.
